Ingredients

All of Jah Jireh’s soap varieties are made with the same all-natural, unscented, vegetable oil raw soap base using the traditional, handmade cold-process method. No animal byproducts are used. Then it is enriched with essential oils, herbs, and botanicals depending on the individual variety.

All soaps contain saponified canola oil, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, sunflower seed oil, hemp seed oil and water.

Canola oil is a good moisturizer. Coconut oil makes soaps lather beautifully. It even lathers in very hard water or even sea water. Palm Kernel oil makes a soap that is very hard, that lathers and cleans well and is also mild. The quality of Palm oil is far superior to other vegetable oils that are filler oils. It is universal and used in many expensive luxury soaps. Sunflower seed oil is a great moisturizer and contains Vitamin E, so it naturally resists going rancid (Vitamin E is a preservative). Hempseed oil brings a silky quality to the soap.

Each type of soap has it’s own blend of essential oils and herbs. They are as follows:

Mother Lovin’ Lavender Lather/ Luscious Lavender Lather:essential oils of lavender and vanilla, indigo colour

New Daddy Brew Daddy/The Smooth Skin Latte: natural coffee extract, coffee fragrance oil, ground coffee, milk

Sophie’s Sensitive Soother Soap: essential oils of tea tree, chamomile, calendula, chickweed, natural yellow colour

Undercover Grubber Scrubber/Sleek & Sporty All-Purpose Miracle Soap: essential oils of tea tree, peppermint and rosemary, green tea

About Natural Soap

Jah Jireh Family Soapworks makes soap using the traditional cold-process method, which has been used by soapmakers for thousands of years. This time-tested procedure retains the natural glycerin that is absent in mass-produced detergent bars, resulting in a smooth, creamy, sensual soap that is very good for the skin. Our small batches are made with ingredients that you can pronounce and contain no synthetic hardeners, stabilizers, alcohol, detergents, solvents, or harsh chemicals. Before the soap is hand-poured into molds it is enriched with emollient oils and textured with natural herbs, botanicals, and essential oils resulting in a beautiful, luxurious bar of soap.

Natural soap is much milder and better for your skin than mass-produced soap, which uses chemical detergents. However, natural soap simply does not lather as well. This is because of the inverse relationship between lather and moisture. Increase moisture and you decrease lather. Handmade soaps have a lot of moisture by their nature (that is why they are so good for your skin!) Natural soap also lacks the chemical agents used in other bars to increase lather. Because of the increased moisture of natural soap, it will last much longer if you allow it to dry in between uses. If you leave your bar of soap in a pool of water in the corner of the shower, it will be a gooey mess in no time. If you use a soap dish that drains it will last you for many happy scrubs.

  1. Hello,

I’ve been using the “sleek and sporty” soap. I love it. I have read your ingredient list, but I just want to be certain about one thing:

Do you use lye when making your soaps?

    Thanks so much,

    Kathleen
